AlcoDigital Achieves Cyber Essentials Certification

We’re pleased to announce that AlcoDigital is now Cyber Essentials certified!

Achieving Cyber Essentials certification represents our ongoing commitment to protecting our business, our systems and, most importantly, the customers and partners who trust us.

But what exactly is Cyber Essentials, and what does our certification mean for you?

What is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed cyber security certification scheme, developed with the expertise of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

The scheme is designed to help organisations protect themselves against the most common types of cyber attack and is recommended by the NCSC as the minimum standard of cyber security for organisations of all sizes.

To achieve certification, organisations must demonstrate that they have appropriate controls in place across five key areas:

  • Firewalls – helping prevent unauthorised access to networks and systems.
  • Secure configuration – ensuring devices and systems are configured securely.
  • Security update management – keeping software and systems up to date and addressing known vulnerabilities.
  • User access control – ensuring access to systems and information is appropriately managed.
  • Malware protection – helping protect devices and systems from malicious software.

These controls provide a strong foundation for protecting an organisation against common online threats.

What does our certification mean for AlcoDigital?

For us, achieving Cyber Essentials certification isn’t simply about receiving a certificate.

It represents a formal commitment to maintaining good cyber security practices across the business.

The certification process has provided an opportunity to review our existing approach to security, identify potential areas for improvement and ensure that appropriate controls are consistently applied.

Cyber security is not something that can be treated as a one-off project. Threats continue to evolve, which means maintaining strong security requires ongoing attention, review and improvement.

It reinforces something that is already central to the way we work: protecting our customers and their information is a responsibility we take seriously.

What does it mean for our customers?

For our customers, Cyber Essentials certification provides an additional level of assurance when working with AlcoDigital.

When you work with a supplier, you’re not only trusting them with the service they provide. Depending on the relationship, you’re also trusting them to handle systems, information and data responsibly.

Cyber security is therefore an important part of supplier and supply-chain risk.

The NCSC specifically highlights Cyber Essentials as a way for organisations to gain assurance that suppliers and other third parties have implemented fundamental cyber security controls.

Our certification demonstrates that AlcoDigital has implemented the core technical controls required by the Cyber Essentials scheme.

In practical terms, this means our customers can have greater confidence that we take the protection of our systems and information seriously.

Supporting customer confidence

Cyber security is becoming an important consideration when businesses select technology providers and other suppliers.

For many organisations, demonstrating that suppliers meet recognised security standards is now part of their own approach to managing cyber risk.

Cyber Essentials can therefore help our customers when they are carrying out supplier assessments, procurement processes or internal security reviews.

The NCSC reports that giving customers confidence is one of the leading reasons organisations choose to achieve Cyber Essentials certification.

We’re proud that our certification allows us to demonstrate that commitment in a clear and independently recognised way.

The NCSC regularly reviews and updates the Cyber Essentials requirements to ensure they remain relevant as the threat landscape changes. The current requirements were updated in April 2026.

We’ll continue to review our systems, processes and practices as part of our wider commitment to security and resilience.

A positive step for AlcoDigital and our customers

Achieving Cyber Essentials certification is something we’re proud of.

It demonstrates our commitment to maintaining strong cyber security foundations, gives our customers additional confidence when working with us and provides a framework for continuing to improve our security practices.

For our customers, it’s another reason to know that security is taken seriously at AlcoDigital.
